I’M BACK BABIES!

Well you might think the title says it all, but it doesn’t. I’m not here to talk about why I was gone for so long or why Finding Sophia is going to be discontinued (spoilers). I’m here to talk to YOU! Now before your head swells to the size of a balloon, what do I mean by that? (in an old man’s voice) Sometimes in this journey called life, we miss our way (cut old man’s voice). I definitely missed mine by forgetting what this blog was all about. It’s not just an avenue to share my writings with the world. It’s an avenue to impact the world. This is where we talk REALITY! Bisi Talks Reality…lol. Anyway too much jibber jabber, back to the topic of the day: PAIN (and no not the Naruto character)

PAIN: Your stepping stone to greatness

Oxford English dictionary defines pain as….Lol no, not gonna do that. We all know what pain is because we have all felt it! I mean that pain from not getting the job we wanted, that score we wanted, that yes we wanted… see a pattern here: “WANT”. I mean yes of course stepping on a nail is still pain, but technically we didn’t want to step on that nail.

As I was saying, pain is such a heart breaker ehn. It’s like I put so much effort into something only to get the door slammed in my face..sigh. Pain brings up so much negative thoughts and emotions like “Was I not good enough?”, Am I that horrible at my job?”, “Why doesn’t anyone wanna publish me? “(no..I didn’t get this from personal experience…I think). For some people, pain even brings up thoughts of suicide, but before you jump off that building, let me tell you a secret: PAIN IS GOOD!

“She must be crazy” you think. I mean pain isn’t a bed of roses or that huge tub of chocolate icecream with rainbow sprinkles, gummy bears, caramel drizzles and….where was I? Oh yeah pain is great! Why? Because it is your chance to be better. It is that kick in the butt that tells you “okay girl/boy, you gotta step up your game.” That school denied you admission? Apply once more either to another or even that same school and once they do grant you admission (they will after you work your butt off for it), you can strut into a school wearing sunglasses and feeling like an absolute boss because you proved to them and everyone else that you could DO IT! I mean once I learnt to accept that pain is a kickstarter  I have cried less, worried less, and hurt less. I have just become BETTER! I have stopped taking it as “Am I not good enough?” and now take it as “What can I do to be better?” WHAT CAN YOU DO TO BE BETTER! That teacher failed you? Come back, work harder and ace that course like a boss! That interviewer turned you down? Improve your skills, learn more, and become, as some people say, “a hot cake” in the labour market. I’m serious! I mean yes it’s perfectly normal to feel down because of pain. I would be worried if you weren’t. But don’t let that pain stop you from moving forward. Imagine that thing that caused the pain as a fence, one that is blocking the path from getting to your dreams. What do you do? Run a couple of metres back (a.k.a. retrace your steps), now run forward with more speed, more power, more confidence and SCALE THAT FENCE! Where do you end up? Not only have you scaled that fence, you would have also landed a few metres further on the path to your dreams. Mehn don’t you love analogies? But what if you just end up hitting the fence or even fall flat on your face, then try again! This time you know better what not to do! People, these are dreams, goals, visions we are talking about here! No stupid obstacle is going to hold you back! Truly believe that and see how far you will come.

DISCLAIMER

Of course there are times where what caused such pain is out of your control maybe death, natural disaster etc. Some times, you just gotta take a deep breath and let it out. Things will get better. It’s just a matter of time.

Well that’s all the knowledge I have to pass on for now. (old man’s voice again) A word is enough for the wise (cut voice). Hope you enjoyed today’s post! If you did, don’t forget to follow this blog and also drop your comments below. See you tomorrow. One love 🙂
